This week, we stopped by Huntington Middle School in Chillicothe, Ohio to check on something pretty special: six healthy bee hives, tucked into a quiet spot on school grounds.

It’s the school’s second year raising bees and their first working with Frontline Hives, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s taking shape. The hives are thriving, and more importantly, so are the students.
Mr. Dirk Foglesong, who leads the district’s middle school agriculture program, is all in. He’s working to grow the number of hives and get more students involved in caring for them. For him, it’s about more than honey or hive counts. It’s about helping students connect with the natural world, learn new skills, and take ownership of something meaningful.
And the impact doesn’t stop at the hive boxes. There are plans to plant pollinator-friendly spaces around the school to support other native pollinators including butterflies, beetles, and beyond.
We’re proud to partner with schools like Huntington that are creating hands-on opportunities for students to lead, learn, and make a real difference in their community.
Want to help bring pollinator education to your school district? Partner with Frontline Hives and let’s grow something good together.
